Will There Be a Reaper?
The Reaper by Vincent Van Gogh

The simple fact of this painting is that this is a field that is ready for the harvest and it's time to reap. Whether the young man was the sower or not we do not know but he has answered the call to reap. It is slow, methodical work. Although most of his work is still ahead of himself, he keeps focused on the row he is on.
Vincent Van Gogh paints a beautiful analogy of Christ's words to His disciples when He said, "Open your eyes and look at the field! They are ripe for the harvest." (John 4:35) The field may be said to be all men, but a ripe field are men and women ready and waiting for a reaper that will bring them into God's kingdom.
It is God's will that all men would grow to maturity physically and spiritually. He wants all of us to know Him and be known by Him. If you know God already then Jesus challenges you to open your eyes and look at the fields around you. Men are hungry to know God. Men are longing for truth and to be brought into the kingdom of God. But will there be a reaper? Will someone see the need and be willing to do the hard work of gathering souls for God? Will we be willing to reap what another has sown?
As reapers for God we harvest a crop of men for eternal life. Those that sow and those that reap should be glad together as together they finish the work that God started through His Son Jesus.
