Daily Discipline #9

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."
Matthew 7:24

To my friends and co-workers, I usually appeared as a confident, capable person. But in all honesty, it was only an outward show because inside I was nervous, hesitant, and very doubtful of having the abilities to do whatever was needed. Why, if God has given us so many talents and abilities, do so many of us feel like I did inside?

The answer is because we don't act on the truth we know (or should know) about ourselves. Then, it's like the dominoes effect. Overtime when we don't live the truth we begin to believe a lie. Soon, we not only believe the lie but we live the lie. For example: instead of just believing I could never get in front of people to speak, I actually feared and ran from any situation that might demand this of me. As I believed enough lies, I then became paralyzed and restricted in what I was able to do in this area.

God's Word is full of truth about what He has done for us, in us, and to us through His Son Jesus. We can't act on truth until we know the truth.  This month I'd like you to not only read the truth about your life but believe it and start to act as you believe it! With each of the verses listed in this study, pray them back to God putting yourself in the picture.

For example, you might pray like this as you read 1 Peter 1:23: " Father thank you that I have been regenerated and born again. My new life in Christ will last forever because it comes from your eternal, living word." As you pray these scriptures you are building up and strengthening your spirit so you can stand against Satan who wants to keep you a failure, discouraged, and depressed. Keep this list of scriptures and pray them often. May God reveal to you who you really are in Christ.
