DAILY DISCIPLINE #17
By Colleen Donahue
"This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!" Psalm 118:24
I think it should be considered a fine art to be able to live day by day and minute by minute. Much of my life until now has been spent in the future. As a young girl, I was always thinking of the day when I would grow up and become something or be able to do something that I couldn't do today. On the other hand, maybe some of us that are older are going backward and living in what has been. Both are wrong. Both make us miss out on all the wonder of today and all that God has planned to give us in it.
A friend recently sent a Christmas card to me with the message-"Don't postpone joy" written several times in the card and on the envelope. She had recently experienced the death of a dear friend and through it God had shown her the deep message that we only have TODAY. The people we have with us now may not be here tomorrow. The mountain view we see from our car on vacation will pass within hours. The job that satisfies today may be changed or eliminated.
THIS IS THE DAY God has made and He wants us to live each minute fully. I'm learning this slowly, but have often asked God to pull on my leash so I stay by His side and don't run ahead. I hope you will find the following passages encouraging and for your life.
