Focus
Christine Lerolle Embroidering by Pierre-Auguste Renoir

There's something immediately restful to me as I look at this painting. In the foreground we see Christine focused on an embroidery project while at the other side of the room are two men focused on a painting (perhaps her husband and guest). When we focus on one thing at a time we find something beautiful happening. A sewing project gets finished and a painting gets appreciated to become food for our soul.
Today the concept of multitasking is praised as man accomplishing two or three things at once. Doing more is good, doing more in less time is even better. But is there a consequence to multitasking to the detriment of men's soul? Has it not produced a frenzy and anxiety in our society that has spread like a disease? In the rush to do more are we becoming a people with widespread attention deficit disorder -- referred to as ADD?
If you are one such victim of being over extended and pulled in all directions then hear the Lord's advice for you. He says, "Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10
If we focus on one thing in this life let it be on Jesus. He says to us, "Take my yoke (only one thing) upon you and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 28:11
