What Did Jesus Teach?
The Kingdom of God is a Place of Tremendous Potential

God, is King over Heaven and earth because he created it all. But – he gave the earth to men.  Scripture tells us “The heavens belong to the Lord but he has given the earth to all humanity.”  Psalm 115:16

God’s original intent was for earth to be a colony of Heaven where He could extend his sovereign rule and authority. He would do it through men and women who loved him and wanted to live and walk in partnership with himself. Since God’s nature is love, that love would extend to every person on earth through his Spirit indwelling our own. God’s Spirit within us would teach us to think, speak and act like our Father in Heaven.

God’s kingdom was meant to be a place of tremendous potential. It was to be full of innovation, creativity, and productivity -----all while we walked together with Him using His resources to “fill the earth and subdue it”. His kingdom was to be a place where everyone would be loved, accepted and have a unique role to play in the development of the universe. There was to be no lack in the Kingdom of God. Men would find God’s resources everywhere on earth and then use them to make things better for everyone else.

What is called “the Fall of Man” was the most catastrophic event in human history. It occurred when our first parents – Adam and Eve – failed the one test of free will that God gave them. By eating from the tree of good and evil they made a decision to live by their own knowledge of right and wrong independent from God. It was the first sin amongst mankind and the start of a long spiral down. For all sin is just living our lives independent from God and his will for us.

God, who knows everything, knew that men would choose to live independent from his will and so he actually had a plan in place before the foundation of the world. That plan would allow for his sovereign rule to return to earth through His Son----and his kingdom would extend itself through any person that would align himself with the King’s Son. That’s why Jesus told us He was the door into God’s Kingdom. Let’s talk a little more about this in the next video.
